Maybe the “Occupy Wallstreet” people should have read this before camping out and pooping in the parks ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, a very humorous look at the banking system, Anhk-Morpork style. We get good old Moist Von Lipwig[who I am enjoying immensely] and some more Vetinari stuff. He’s the best kind of tyrant ๐Ÿ˜€

And I actually found the little annoying dog funny too! Which means Pratchett wrote this well, cause I NEVER find annoying little dogs funny…

A dwarf is murdered and Vimes must solve the crime before a war breaks out between the dwarves and the trolls with Ankh-Morpork caught in the middle.

Vimes is getting old in this book, and he is getting old for me personally. It is time for a new main character, or group of characters, and a new setting outside of the Watch. I wasn’t amused very much.

a group of mice become sentient, so does a cat and they hook up with a little boy who plays the pipes. They run scams to get rid of “rats”.

At one village they come across something bigger, a king rat, and take him down and at the end try to come to terms with the village. Make peace, as it were. Amusing and light and easy.

Time has a baby and it gets split in two. The Auditors try using one of them to build the perfect clock, so that time stops. Death must reunite the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse [plus 1] and Susan must tie everything together while she meets and falls in love with the perfect man[for her]. Highly entertaining. Especially when scads of auditors take on human form for some reason or another.

A good solid, amusing Discworld book. Susan really needs to lighten up though, and the ending of the book hints at the chance of that happening. And Auditors. Oh yeah, love those things ๐Ÿ™‚

a yarn in Ahnk-Morpork about the advent of the movable type press. Subplots of intrigue and murder and Vetinari. And it all works out in the end. And Vetinari continues to show just how much of a clever bastard he really is.

This was amusing but the only part I really enjoyed was the small part played by Vetinari. Showed what a clever bastard he really is ๐Ÿ™‚

Verence, king of Lancre, invites lots and lots of people to his and Magrat’s daughter’s naming. Including some vampires, who are progressive, ie, they don’t ravage and pillage, but treat humans like cattle. Ends up as a battle between the vampire family and the witches, with a slice of Omnian priest thrown in.

I really enjoyed this. Except for the bits where you can tell he’s actually writing about Christianity, not Omnianism. Man, I hate authors who displace their feelings like that.

a story about Rincewind and the wizards and a land suspiciously like Australia. Where it never rains. They have to make it rain.

This book typifies why I liked the stories about Rincewind the best. Silly, comedic danger, action and nothing more serious than a thunderbolt.

Good stuff.

an island pops up between Ahnk-Morpork and Klatch and things get unsettled. Vimes, Carrot, Vetinari and several Klatchians manipulate things to make everything work. And Vimes get “Duke’d”, much to his horror.

Oh, and Nobby gets in touch with his feminine side and that is really the only funny part of the book

It was amusing and interesting, but not riotous or outlandishly weird like most of Pratchett’s early stuff. Discworld in Depends, if you know what I mean.

written back in ’76, this is one of Pratchett’s pre-Discworld novels. BUT. So many of the names and ideas from discworld were in this novel. Basically, a young man finds the creators of the known universe, the Jokers, who are now little lizards on his homeworld. It was a crazy story with huge jumps from point to point. A serious precursor to Discworld. Pratchett wrote one little book and then expanded it to a whole series and called it the Discworld ๐Ÿ™‚
