Miscellaneous Posts:

Personal:

Is the month really over? Don’t toy with me, tomorrow IS March, right? February’s have always been bad for me and this one felt particularly brutal. Weather was horrible with snow, cold, rain, no sun, then some more snow. Work sucked with too much to do, not enough help, office manager being a real jerk. Blogging sucked because I’d come home exhausted and not have the energy to deal with anything online.

By the end of the month I was running on caffeine and that affected me emotionally and that made EVERYTHING seem about 10x bigger than it actually was. Pay a bill? Oh my goodness, talk about the end of the world. 3 loads of laundry when I was expecting 2? Laundrypocalypse and I’ll just go kill myself, thank you very much. Run out of soda? Job obviously didn’t know the meaning of REAL suffering.

Thankfully, by the halfway mark I realized what was going on with me and started to take steps to give me a buffer. I think I started too late though so I was in survival mode longer than I wanted to be. Still am in fact.

Cover Love:

This is not the cover I used for my review of the Path of Daggers, but of the 4 covers I’ve seen, I liked this the best. Gateways, Birgette, the Seanchan, this has it all.

Plans for Next Month:

Reviews. And then some more reviews. And just to break things up, another couple of reviews! Having the Gulag off my back has made me feel like a speed reader and I’m taking full advantage of that for as long as it lasts. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“•๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“˜๐Ÿ“™

Since I don’t want to overwhelm you all with my overly long and indepth book analyses, I’ll be sure to add a puff piece here and there. Don’t let it be said that The Bookstooge never pandered to the hoi poloi!

In regards to the aforementioned “suckiness”, if things do continue that way I’ll be pulling back from being online as much. Might not be commenting as much in general and might have to save the replies to comments on here to the weekends. Blogging in February felt like a battle and I don’t want that to continue. Blogging is supposed to be fun and I’m evaluating what all contributed to it not being fun this past month.

  1. Thanks to this post notification I was just notified that February is indeed over tomorrow, I thought there was a day or two extra to go still… Sucks that personal life got a bit sucky for you man. We had snow here too but being in lockdown and stuck at home did not mean much for us. I did fall on my ass the one morning on my way to do a supply run which was funny, to me at least… Heres hoping March will be better on us all…

  2. “2stars of despair and robot blowjobs” Is the funniest one sentence overview I’ve ever read lmao.
I hope March is much better for you! Take care of yourself first and foremost. Blogging will still be here when you actually feel like it.

    1. Thanks. At the worst, I figure I’ll just have another month like February, and at least this time I’ll be prepared ๐Ÿ˜€
At best, the sun will shine every day and I’ll have a winning lottery ticket blow into my hand, hahahaha ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks bormgans (for some reason, calling you bart online just seems wrong ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Between the two states we work in, there are 12.7million acres. We’ll never run out….

  3. I didn’t know you were a sunshine guy! Seriously though, I hear you. Good weather makes a huge difference, doesn’t it? I had a similar experience in January which felt like it was never going to end. Freezing cold, dark, snowy or rainy. That month was like 65 days long, right?

Anyway, here we are in March-don’t forget I live in the future!-and the sun is shining outside my window as I type this. It’s 10:25 in the morning on Monday March 1st and I’m sat in my junior high school’s teacher’s room catching up with WP. The students have tests for the first three periods, so I’m basking in some “quiet” time. Everyone is wearing a mask, not unusual in Japan in March because of hayfever season kicking in. My mask is on my desk. I’m such a rebel, I know.

I enjoyed reading your post on Negative Reviews and all the comments. Thanks for the link. It’s great when a post garners a lot of comments, isn’t it! A pretty new experience for me ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve bookmarked your DNF post and will return to it after I post this comment. Here’s hoping for much merriment in March and to better, brighter books. You take care of yourself (and Mrs. B!) and keep on keeping on!

    1. I didn’t realize I was a sunshine guy either until a couple of years ago. And it’s getting progressively worse for me so I”m thinking about getting one of those sunshine lamps.

      Join the rebellion Rebel-san!

I’d actually forgotten about that DNF post. One of the problems with blogging for several years, things get written and then forgotten ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great evening…

  4. Oh my goodness, February did suck for you, big time! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Hope March will be better – you have birthday soon, right? Lots of presents and cake! ๐Ÿ˜€ and sun – lots of sun (though not too much so that it doesn’t burn your head, you’d be grumpy then I imagine ;))

It will get better, I’m sure! Less rain, less laundry, more books! ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Your mention of “laundrypocalypse” made me think of that segment in Disney’s “Fantasia”, where Mickey Mouse as an apprentice wizard creates an army of brooms and pails that turn rogue. Where you similarly harassed by animated dirty laundry? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. February is never a great month with so much bad weather everywhere. March is going to be the month of getting lots of fences painted-three coats of varnish front and back of the two new fences plus our side of a fence that went up two years ago!

  7. February was hellish for me too. So many things going on every week, blogging had to be put lower on my priorities but I’m hoping to break free from that this month just to re-embrace my love of blogging and connecting with y’all. I do hope March will turn out better for you too.

    1. I hate to say it, but I didn’t even notice your drop in output because I was so inward focused. One of the drawbacks to being an introvert :-/

I hope March is better for us all. I feel like we really need a “Good Month”…

yeah, trying that last sentence myself. Hopefully, we figure something out.

    1. Indeed.
I found that I was just spreading myself too thin, too many comments on too many posts. So this month I’m easing up on the commenting and letting the “likes” speak for me.

    1. march can always go either way for us. It can be mild and very springlike or it can have a real roaring snowstorm or two. Personally, I’m hoping for the mild version ๐Ÿ˜€

Because of what has gone on in Texas I’m looking into various personal water systems for us. Just handheld things but something that would get us through an emergency.
