2006 Is DONE!

I know, you probably think I’m a little late to the party. Admit it. In my defense, it’s only been 15 years. And besides, 2006 was a good year. Tennant was the Dr and Billy Piper was his lovely companion. Good memories!

Anyway, this is just a little note to myself that I’ve finished down to 2006 in my Blog Construction Project. Every time I get to knock another year off the To-Do list is a good moment for me. 2005-2000 is looking more and more doable. So be happy and rejoice with me!

      1. It’s a very ambitious project indeed. I am definitely not trying anything like this, but I know you have a method and you’ve been working on this for years. Goodreads thinks i’ve only read 14 books, which is humiliating, but I just can’t tell them about everything i read.

    1. Thanks SD. 21 years of book data finally getting corralled into decent order! I have to admit it would have been easier to start all this when I was just on blogger, but at that time it seemed to overwhelming and life had a lot of other stuff going on. Now, now I can handle it and kick it’s butt 😀

      I’m really hoping to have this project done by the end of this year. Honestly though, if real life works stays as busy as it has, that is probably a pipe dream…

      1. I know what you mean. Sometimes, especially here lately I have to take it one minute at a time. Trying to get everything together in what feels like a wheel turning and my limbs being tugged at. Keep at it brother and it will totally be worth it.

    1. Wow, you are CHEAP! Only 5 pair? A project this monumental, this monstrous in size and scope should at least get me 10 pair!

      I feel like the cheap skinflint scottish stereotype really applies here….

        1. I’m not concerned with how much they cost, but with the fact that you cheapskate only gave me 5 pair.
          In fact, the cheaper they are, the more you can give me! I’m totally taking that Stone Cold Pizza back from your surveillance guys…

  7. Thanks heavens! I thought you were senile for a moment!

    I was thinking of copying my blog to a free WordPress blog. I do have “backups” but when my food blog was deleted by my hosting company, the files weren’t easy to reinstall and I have a $350 quote to do it. So copying stuff over might not be a bad idea although it seems like so much work. 🙄

      1. I’m not sure. How do I do that?

        My food blog is gone, as in I can’t even access it. But I have some files from Updraft (the free backup program I have) but I have no idea how to rebuild it. It’s going to either take me $300 of my time or $300 of someone else’s time to do it.

        1. For a wordpressdotcom user, there is a thing called “tools” under the “my sites” tab. The “import” and “export” options are right there for us. I don’t know where you have to go for a dotorg site.

          Either way, yeah, maintaining your own site has this inherent risk. Another reason I wont go selfhosted 🙂

      I work backwards in time. When I came to WP in ’16 (full time. I’d been here through autoposting from booklikes since ’13) I got all my reviews from when I moved to WP from booklikes up to the standard that I wanted. I then began working backwards in time, as that was easier as I had individual posts for each book back through 2008 or 2007. It is much easier to add tags and standardize info on 100 already existing individual posts then to create 100 new posts from one massive post and do all the work then.

      So I have the years 2005 back through 2000 to still deal with. I gave a link to Fraggle if you want to take a look at what I’m dealing with.

      Basically, when I started blogging I put all my reviews for a year in one long post. I am trying to make every review have it’s own post here on WP. I am working backwards towards 2000 (when I started recording what I read) and so I am getting close to the end 😀

        1. It was a hold over from the days when I was keeping track in a notebook. I also have to admit that I never gave the future a thought. Because surely I’d remember all the books I’d read!
          Oy vey, to be that young again 😉
