The Life & Times of Bookstooge

20120205-183331

Today has been a great day so far. Up at 5am, starting writing out posts and by 1pm had written 2 reviews, 2 tag posts, one quote post, gone on a walk and had a half of an italian sub for breakfast.

Mrs B is happily watching hamster and gerbil videos. She is currently chortling away at a hamster dressed up as a rhinoceros. As well as other things.

And the day is only half over. What other wonderful things will I write today? I don’t know but the words are flowing like the Spice!

    1. You can find the rhino. vid. by searching he’ll denizen on YouTube and clicking the video “tiny animals dressed as safari animals” .

    1. It has been fantastic so far. It makes me suspect that I’ll have to be careful about tomorrow, as my moods tend to swing when they get extreme like this ๐Ÿ˜€

And glad to hear he’s loving Dune. I think it is one of my favorite books ever so it always makes me happy when someone else also enjoys it a lot.

Had you read Dune? I can’t remember seeing it on your blog since I’ve started following you.

  1. Haha, those hamsters are pretty darn cute, but Iโ€™m suspicious as to their level of misery, particularly the one in the white outfit! (What is that outfit supposed to be? A polar bear? A mouse? A fuzzy white creature?)

And there are few things better than an early and productive morning! In my foolish youth I used to consider myself a night owl and behaved accordingly, but in the past decade or so Iโ€™ve gone in the complete opposite direction and feel it works better for me as far as actually accomplishing things and feeling better.

    1. Personally, I’m surprised the NSPCA doesn’t use Youtube as some sort of informant network and raid all the people making pet videos. I saw cats, bunnies, hamsters, gerbils, mice, kittens….

I’ve always known I was a morning person but some Saturday mornings just flow better. I’m wondering if knowing it is a 3day weekend is helping.

      1. Haha, yeah, I occasionally like to watch the funny cat videos, and many of them make me laugh, but there are always some clips in there that make me cringe.

All week I kept forgetting this was a three day weekend, then I would remember again and get to enjoy that ecstatic happiness all over again! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. That’s fantastic. Hope one of the tags is mine! ๐Ÿ˜€
So far I have: caught up on reading and commenting … raked out the dirt in the raised beds … made BLTs. Now, probably thanks to the garden work, my elbow is hurting, so it’s time to rest it & read for a while.

      1. I am re-reading The Resolve of Immortal Flesh after I got it out in order to post about it on Friday.

Stupid elbow. I slept on that shoulder wrong a week ago and it’s been punishing me ever since. I still don’t know what I did to deserve this …

        1. Sympathizes with the sleeping wrong thing. I can no longer sleep on my side due to my shoulders so I had to learn to sleep on my back. I hate it ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Hope the elbow gets better quick…

    1. I’ve actually been cutting back my caffeine as it’s been affecting me in other ways. So the answer is “none”. It was just one of those “One in a Million” kind of day ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. I always plan to write out posts in advance and yet I always seem to do them the day of. Plus, whenever I get up at five, I’m never as productive by noon. Though I probably could’ve eaten the sub ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I think it was about 2 years ago that I started writing out everything in advance. I started with a week and have since gotten it up to about 3 weeks. That seems to be where I stick now.

Not a morning person? 5pm is my cutoff time for being productive or creative. After that my body is getting ready for sleep ๐Ÿ˜€

      1. Depends on when I’m working. They alternate me on mornings and nights, so I’m up whenever. Normally, nope, not a morning person. Or a night owl. I prefer to fill the day and night with naps and sleep in equal measure.

I just wrote one of my lone posts in advance. It’ll be out in two months, closer to when the book is published.

        1. Oh, you’re one of those guys who gets shafted with alternating shifts? Is it on a weekly or monthly basis?

I stopped doing NG reviews because I was sick of them telling me I couldn’t post until “X Date”. I’m assuming it was an netgalley book for you anyway…

          1. Neither. It’s whenever they feel like it, or need me to fill in. And yeah, it’s a NG book. But I uh, never actually pay any attention to what they tell me or want me to do. Just always figured I’d forget about the book between now and its release date. So this is better.

              1. A year and… a half? Ish? But I’m in no position to be picky. Especially lately, since I’ve been off since mid-March and will remain off until at least mid-June.

The hours aren’t my favorite, though I really do like the job, so…

    1. For me, reviews are the hardest posts to write, so I try to never fall more than 2 books behind. Sometimes it is a chore and sometimes the review almost writes itself. I can never tell which it is going to be!

  4. I am on part three of Dune… That spice cat cracked me up. I do not know if I will be able to do a good review of Dune, my reluctance of picking it up has been justified by just how overwhelmingly great the book is, damn dude… I am scared of doing it an injustice.

    1. See, don’t worry about doing it justice. Write a review of it that you’d want to read. We all just want is to know how you experienced the book. You saying how overwhelmingly great it is, that would be a great place to start a review.

I’ve reviewed Dune multiple times and each time it is different depending on what I was feeling at the time. So don’t put any pressure on yourself. If all you write is how great it is and how you loved it, that’s enough. Remember, it is YOUR review ๐Ÿ˜‰

But I am glad to hear you’re really liking it…
