But those same hands which once screwed tight our handcuffs now hold out their palms in reconciliation: “No, don’t! Don’t dig up the past! Dwell on the past and you’ll lose an eye.”
But the proverb goes on to say: “Forget the past and you’ll lose both eyes.”

Indeed. some things should not be forgotten…

That’s chilling. As is the quote on the front.

Yes, it is. Sadly, either outcome is bad as you’ll end up losing at least one eye. I wish more people realized that their political views actually meant something more than “free money for them”…

Great quote! Soltzhenitsyn has some excellent ones.
Shoot! Now you’re making me want to pick this up again ….

I hope you resist temptation. You have enough on your plate at the moment I suspect 🙂

Forgetting the past is an activity that too many people practice, so that blindness of the mind is worse than the loss of eyesight…

It’s only been 2-3 generations since the Berlin Wall fell and in the United States Communism is alive and well today. It really saddens me…

Oh man, is this your comfort reading? 😲 It’s a very important and wise book, granted, but I probably wouldn’t pick it for my pandemic reads 😉

No, this isn’t a comfort read. It’s a “this is what is going to happen to the US if we don’t change NOW” kind of read 😦
The pandemic is driving the fear that will let this happen here…

Just last night I was going through my old poems and trying to sort them out… I will need to continue today as I ended up not knowing what I was doing anymore… i actually wrote a new one, so that proverb is very relatable to me today…

Best of luck. Are you going to end up putting them all online or just sorting out the stuff you have in paper?

Been trying to sort the ones i have posted on wp, took me 3 hours and i still have not found them all… my initial idea was to post the others onWP from time to time, but its going to be a while.

Do you have a poetry tag? That might help in finding them in the future? Or you could create a new category for them.

Yeah I have the Wednesday Wordsday catagory where i post them. The hand written poems is where the problem lies, they are everywhere🙈

Love how heavy, literally and figuratively, this one is. I’m assuming that you’re “enjoying” it so far? 😀

I am glad to be reading this, and enjoying it for the quality of writing and the warning it is. But man, I’m only reading it on Saturday’s and even then it is hard to stay focused on it. It’s dense with cultural references that simply mean nothing to me…
