Given that I was informed by WordPress that I’ve been here 6 years (not active the whole time mind you) and that I have many, many, many full bookshelves, I’d like to start doing some give-aways. I could donate to the library, but 90% of the books donated to the library end up on the Buy A Bag and Support the Library table. That just doesn’t sound appealing to me, so a give-away it is.
The Rules:
United States only unless you’re willing to pay shipping for out of country. Should that be the case Paypal will be involved and paypal fees’s will be added. So if you’re not living in the US, think real hard about entering. I’ll be paying for shipping in the US, as the bookrate is still pretty cheap these days.
I’m going to try to vary what I’m offering, but most will be of the SF/F variety, from paperbacks to hardcovers. Some manga might be involved in the future. I’ll be putting up pictures each post so you know what you’ll actually be getting.
If you win a giveaway, you can’t try again for the next 2. Kind of arbitrary, but I really don’t want one person to sweep in and take everything 😀 But when that 3rd one rolls around, enter away! If I get a lot of spammers and non-followers entering, well, they’ll be “dealt with”.
To enter, just shoot me an email at Bookstooge at Gmail with “Book Giveaway – (Insert Book/Series Name)” in the subject line. I’ll be using a random dice selector to determine the winner. I will announce the winner in the next Give-Away post and email them to work out the details.
These rules are subject to change without notice. And don’t blame me if the police arrest you for winning that “How to Murder Your Boss and Get Away with It” book. You didn’t have to enter.
This Month’s Books
They should be clickable for larger pictures. These are hardcover omnibus editions and I believe these 4 books contain all 10 or 12 of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Barsoom/Mars stories starring Jon Carter, Dejah Thoris, etc.
I’ll announce the winner on Sunday, October 20th when I put up the next give-away. Unless this flops spectacularly and I give up in despair. Then you can expect a video of me committing ritualistic hari kari while I complain that nobody on the entire internet loves me. Hmmm, not sure if that counts as funny or a passive aggressive threat! 😉
Good luck. With the millions of entries I expect, you’re going to need it!
That’s a generous giveaway! Congrats on 6 years too. 😉

Thanks. It’s the longest I’ve been active at one place.

Good luck with your giveaway! I always consider doing one but have yet to follow through. (I’m going to skip entering this one and see what you giveaway next. ^_^ )

I’m hoping to do these once every month or two on a regular basis. Time to thin the book herd 🙂

I’m not an Edgar Rice Burroughs fan, but when some books that appeal to me pop up, I will enter.
Congratulations on the 6 year run.

I bought these books before I’d read any Burroughs. Turns out I’m not a ERB fan either 😀
Thanks. And I”d like to thank you for your continual stopping by even though you’re not blogging on a regular basis.

Glad to see you sticked around as long as you did, sir. Thanks for this awesome giveaway though. I’d probably be curious about the shipping details if you end up giving away something that has been on my TBR since forever hahah

Shoot me an email and we can try to figure out ahead of time what shipping “might be”. I’ve never shipped anything international before, so it would be a learning experience 🙂

Congrats on the 6 years 😁

Thanks. I really only count 3, since I wasn’t an active participant the first 3 🙂

This is a good way of thinning the shelves down. Might start doing these in the future with books I can’t justify keeping.

As long as shipping isn’t a problem for you, it is a great way to get books into other readers’ hands. We don’t really have any used bookstores in our area so I can’t even donate them to them 😦

Happy 6th blogoversary! Congrats on six years and here’s to many more 😀 Sweet giveaway too, I think my husband actually has the same editions of these somewhere.

If he ever belonged to the SFBC at some point, chances are pretty good he does 🙂
Thanks. 6 years is the longest I’ve ever been at one place without leaving over one thing or another 😀

Well done on your six years! I used to be really active on bookcrossing and sent books I was done with all over the world-until the shipping costs got too high! Europe is as far as I can strech these days and that is rare! Good luck to everyone in the giveaway!

6 years! Congrats! Here’s to many more! 😀
And a giveaway to boot 😉 Not sure I won’t succumb to the lure of free books, especially ones previously owned by inestimable Bookstooge… fortunately Burroughs is not for me 😀

Yep, ERB has a small window of fandom these days. They are pretty intense about it though 😀

Congratulations! 6 years?! That’s awesome! 😀
And I’ve noticed everyone has poo-pooed these so far, but, man, I am tempted! I’ not a fan of Tarzan, but I did enjoy Princess of Mars (have a post in the works about it actually) and I haven’t read the other Barsoom stories … I’m off to investigate setting up a PayPal account …

If you liked Princess of Mars, you’ll like the rest of the Mars books. I’ve actually thought about trying the Tarzan books to see how different they are from Barsoom, but I’ve never mustered up enough “oomph” to actually do anything 😀

It’s such a tough call to make, do you read about a semi-naked dude swinging about in trees? Or do you read … I don’t know … ANYTHING ELSE?? 😀
