Graphic Novels & Manga:

In place of any graphic novels, I started reading some old Silver Sable individual comics I bought back in the early 90’s and still have kicking around.

I had to bite the bullet in regards to the Oh My Goddess manga and just accept that I had moved on and it simply wasn’t palatable to me anymore. Going to be taking a break before diving into another manga series. Now I’m a bit gun-shy.

Miscellaneous And Personal:

Survival Saturday was more enjoyable this time around because I dragged my bro, W.C. Bombfunk, into the whole thing. It’s always more fun when you can share a bad experience with others. Creamy a la King was anything but King of the food. It’s getting pushed to the back of the food line or maybe I’ll trade it to unsuspecting saps for some jerked venison when the apocalypse arrives.

Surviving a Bad Book hit its 9th installment. I’m thinking of ending the series next month with a 10th post and then start an opposite kind themed post more in the vein of my “Favorite Things”  but focused on just one book. I could also use a break from reminding myself of some the absolute crap books/situations I’ve dealt with.

Started the month with a timely warning for you all, About Narcissism.  I felt like I kind of fell off the Book Review wagon because I actually did 2 Tag Posts this month.

“Hello, my name is Bookstooge and I’m not really a book reviewer….”

“Hi Bookstooge!”

I’m pretty ashamed but I’ll try to do better next month, honest!

I also did a movie review for Thor:Ragnarok. I was looking and I hadn’t done an actual movie review since December so that was a nice change up. I also gave an update on some of the long range Plans I have for this Site. Finished off the month with A History of ….. Reading.

Cover Love:

As much as it pains me, Stands a Shadow wins this month’s cover love. While the book was magicless fantasy and not engaging enough to keep me in the series, look at that cover! It’s Gorgeous!

    1. Well, that’s why I include pages read. That tends to be a bit more of an indicator than anything. I really like to try for 4K pages each month and as you can see, I was well below that.
What bugs me is that I can’t point to any one time sucker that I could have cut out for more reading time. Just little things here and there every week.

Bloody life, always getting in the way of what I want to do 😀

  1. 13 books is impressive! How on Earth everyone reads so much and I am over here like.. hehe. I have been on a bit of a break with manga as well. No particular reason. I just go through spells with it. Mood reading I guess. I love that you enjoyed the Science Fiction Hall of Fame! 😁

        1. Yeah, I’m thinking of starting manga up again in July. Need to look over what I own and pick another one, maybe one a tad bit shorter this time though 🙂

And new avatar I see. Looks good!

    1. I find most films a real waste of time, especially when I consider that I “could” be reading 🙂

So while I’m cool with “listening” to tv in the background while online, movies really eat into my dedicated reading time 😀

          1. True, but it also means it’s harder to show off the pretty covers. My favorite is to leave books “randomly” out around the living room when company is coming over. 😉

    1. You know, I hadn’t even thought of that. I’m such an all or nothing, black and white kind of thinker that sometimes the obvious just shoots right by me 😀

I’ll definitely have to take that into consideration.

And thanks. I’d like to think I’ll have more time to read now that summer is here and my time to play magic the gathering is gone until school starts back up, but…
we’re checking out another sda church about an hour away from us. Thinking of going there once a month to keep Mrs B’s spirits up. So there goes most of Saturday’s reading time…

    1. My review to non-review was almost 1-1. I hope to tip that back to the review side of things a little bit in June.
Of course, I just started Toll the Hounds by Steven Erikson, which my ereader says is 1200 pages. Yeah, THAT’S the way to start off the review cycle :-/

Thank goodness this is just a hobby and not life dependent or something 😀

    1. Thanks. I’m hoping June encompasses more general reading time. With the library being closed on sundays, that cuts down on my magic the gathering time, so here’s to hoping it magically turns into reading time 😀

    1. Sisters are harder to manage than brothers. Considering my sister is a SWAT officer, I have to use headology on her. And even that isn’t anywhere near guaranteed.

But Bombfunk? He grew up with me lording it over him and being the middle child and having a much more laid back personality. All combined so I could be bossy and get away with it, for the most part 😀
So it’s just old hat now.

If I REALLY wanted to read more, I’d stop reading peoples’ blogs and stop commenting. But the chance of THAT happening is about zero! 😀
