Darren runs into Debby, and she gets taken by Vampaneze and the group has a run in with the Vampaneze Lord.
I didn’t find this as engaging as the previous books, but Shan does start to explore, a little, the problems he has with growing up so slowly.
He is in his late 20’s now,or 30’s, I think? but appears like he is 15. That dichotomy is brought into stark relief in this plotline and we’ll see how the future is handled. I suspect, though, it will be as sad as Mr Crepsley’s past.
